Kolkata: The death toll in the roof collapse at an under-construction warehouse in Kolkata's Taratala area has risen to 15 after a 19-year-old worker succumbed to his injuries on Friday, police said.
The latest victim, Mannu Kumar, a resident of Munger district in Bihar, had been undergoing treatment at the state-run S.S.K.M. Medical College and Hospital after being rescued from the debris. Police confirmed that he died on Friday morning.
According to Kolkata Police, 13 of the 15 deceased have been identified, while the identities of two male victims are yet to be established. All those who lost their lives in the incident were men.

Police also released a list of 18 people currently undergoing treatment at S.S.K.M. Hospital. Among them are 17 men and one woman, with the condition of two patients reported to be critical.
A preliminary investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has indicated that the collapse may have been caused by a combination of substandard construction materials and flaws in the roof casting process.
Investigators are also facing difficulties in determining how many workers were present at the site when the roof collapsed, as no attendance register or worker records had been maintained by the warehouse management. As a result, authorities have not been able to confirm whether anyone else remains trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident has also sparked political controversy. According to IANS, it was stated in the West Bengal Assembly that the warehouse construction had received official approval earlier this year, with questions now being raised over the sanctioning process. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine responsibility for the tragedy.
