Khan Sir Booked in Patna Coaching Centre Firing Case; Security Guards Arrested

Patna: The investigation into the June 2 disturbance at a coaching institute in Patna’s Kadamkuan area has intensified, with educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, being named in an FIR after a video allegedly showing gunfire during the incident surfaced online.

Police have registered a case against Khan Sir, two security guards, and several unidentified individuals. The FIR includes charges under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (attempt to murder) as well as relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

The case took a new turn after investigators examined a video that reportedly shows two private security guards firing shots into the air during the clash that occurred around 10:10 p.m. on June 2. The guards, identified as Talebar Singh and Pradeep Kumar, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested. Authorities said they were carrying licensed firearms, though the licences were issued outside Bihar.

The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by Kadamkuan police station Inspector Anil Kumar. According to investigators, the accused allegedly fired, or directed the firing of shots, with the intention of creating fear and panic among the public.

Police sources claim that during interrogation, the two guards stated they opened fire with their .315-bore rifles on Khan Sir’s instructions. Investigators allege that each guard fired two rounds during the incident.

The firearms have been seized and sent for forensic and ballistic examination. After their arrest, both guards were produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.

The controversy originated from a confrontation between two coaching institutes in the Kadamkuan area, which allegedly involved vandalism, stone-pelting, and physical altercations.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Khan Sir had said that firing had occurred. He later clarified that due to the confusion and tension at the scene, he was unable to confirm whether shots had actually been fired.

Police are continuing their probe by reviewing CCTV footage, witness testimonies, forensic evidence, and the recently surfaced video. The results of the ballistic and forensic examinations have not yet been made public.

Officials have emphasised that the allegations contained in the FIR, as well as statements reportedly made during police questioning, remain part of an ongoing investigation and have not yet been tested in court.
