Karnataka celebrates Ugadi with fervour; PM Modi extends warm wishes

Bengaluru — The festival of Ugadi was celebrated across Karnataka on Thursday with great enthusiasm, marking the beginning of a new year filled with hope and positivity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt greetings to citizens on the occasion.

In a message addressed to the nation, Modi described Ugadi as a time of renewal, joy, and new beginnings. He highlighted how the arrival of spring, blooming flowers, and seasonal fruits bring fresh energy and optimism. He also noted that the festival reflects the essence of life, encouraging people to embrace both challenges and successes with grace.

“This is a time when our hardworking farmers prepare for the next agricultural cycle with hope and determination,” he said, adding that the tradition of consuming bitter-sweet dishes during Ugadi symbolises life’s varied experiences.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also extended his wishes, emphasising the symbolic meaning of neem and jaggery — representing sorrow and joy — and urging people to move forward with balance and optimism. He expressed hope that the festival would bring positive change, renewed enthusiasm, and fresh ideas into people’s lives.

Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar greeted the public as well, calling Ugadi a celebration of new beginnings and aspirations. He wished for happiness, peace, and good health in every household.

Meanwhile, BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra conveyed his greetings, describing life as a blend of bitterness and sweetness, much like the traditional Ugadi flavours. He expressed hope that the new year would bring peace, prosperity, and progress across the state.

The festival was marked by traditional rituals, festive foods, and a spirit of togetherness, as people across Karnataka welcomed the new year with joy and devotion.
