Two Militants Killed as Security Forces Foil Infiltration Attempt on J&K LoC

Srinagar — Joint security forces on Sunday thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, killing two armed intruders in the Keran sector, officials reported.

Troops detected suspicious movement near the LoC and immediately launched an anti-infiltration operation, which was still underway at the time of the latest update. Additional information is awaited.

Following the suspension of Operation Sindoor, security agencies have intensified their counter-terrorism campaign, targeting not only active militants but also their overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug traffickers, and hawala networks believed to fund insurgent activity. The goal is to dismantle the entire terror support system, not just neutralise armed operatives.

The Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance along the 740-km LoC and the 240-km International Border to prevent any infiltration attempts before heavy winter snowfall. Terror groups based in Pakistan, with backing from the Pakistani Army, have increasingly used drones to drop weapons, cash, and narcotics across the border. Many of these consignments are retrieved by OGWs, but BSF anti-drone technology has significantly reduced such incidents.

The LoC passes through the Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts in the Kashmir Valley and extends into Rajouri, Poonch, and parts of the Jammu district.
