PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 7,200 Crore Projects in Bihar, Calls State Crucial to Vision of Viksit Bharat

Patna – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched infrastructure and development projects worth ?7,200 crore in Bihar, emphasizing the state's importance in building a developed and prosperous India under the Viksit Bharat initiative.

Speaking at a massive public rally in Motihari, PM Modi said that just as Eastern countries have emerged as global growth engines, Bihar too must become a pillar of India’s economic progress.

“I congratulate the people of Bihar on receiving developmental projects worth ?7,200 crore,” PM Modi declared, amid thunderous applause from the crowd.

He highlighted the commitment of the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government to the welfare of Bihar's citizens, stating that their aim is to ensure the same level of opportunity and infrastructure found in more developed parts of the country.

“We want cities in Bihar to match the standards of developed urban centers — Gaya should be like Gurugram, Patna like Pune, Jalpaiguri like Jaipur, and Birbhum like Bengaluru,” he added.

PM Modi also took a swipe at the previous UPA government, accusing it of neglecting Bihar. “The UPA government allotted just ?2 lakh crore for Bihar over 10 years. In contrast, the BJP-led government has significantly increased that figure and put an end to vindictive politics,” he said.

He noted that Bihar has been one of the key beneficiaries of Central welfare schemes.
“In Motihari alone, more than 3 lakh families have received pucca houses,” the Prime Minister said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar received a grand welcome. Thousands lined the streets of Motihari to greet them, chanting slogans like “Modi-Modi” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, as the leaders’ convoy passed through.

This marks PM Modi’s second visit to Bihar this month, underscoring the state’s strategic importance in national development plans.
