Divyang cricketer Golu Ohdar named state icon for Vidhan Sabha polls

Ranchi: State’s chief electoral officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that booth wise campaign has been conducted to mark the eligible Divyang voters.

He said that Divyang talents who have made a name for themselves in different areas at the state level and at the district level are being made icons so that they can inspire the Divyang voters to use their votes and as part of the initiative the election commission has made Golu Ohdar who is a Divyang cricketer as a state icon for Vidhan Sabha elections 2019.

He said for the Divyang voters at the polling booths all facilities will be provided while for the blind voter's voter slips in Braille Script would be provided.

He said that all the personnel who are involved in the election duty are working with the pledge to ensure that not a single eligible voter is left behind. He said that the election commission was taking all possible steps to ensure that the eligible Divyang voters are able to participate in the election process.

He said that for the first time the election commission has provided the option of Postal ballots for Divyang voters and voters who are above 80 years of age.

Mr Choubey also held a meeting with the district social welfare officers of all the districts and detailed that the facility of the postal ballot will be available on a pilot basis on 7 assembly areas including Rajmahal Pakur Jamtara Deoghar Godda Bokaro and Dhanbad.
