Buenos Aires — The Indian women’s hockey team displayed resilience and determination to finish their four-match tour of Argentina with a 2-2 series draw. After losing the first two matches, the team made a strong comeback by winning the last two games and ending the tour on a positive note.

The series began on April 13 with a competitive encounter. Goals from Navneet Kaur (22’) and Annu (29’) highlighted India’s attacking intent, but Argentina secured a 4–2 victory, with Maria Emilia Larsen (11’), Victoria Granato (18’), and Julieta Jankunas (42’, 55’) scoring for the hosts.

In the second match on April 14, India once again showed promise as Ishika (22’) put them ahead early. However, Argentina edged past with a narrow 2–1 win, thanks to two goals from Agustina Gorzelany (34’, 48’).

India bounced back strongly in the third match on April 16, registering a crucial 2–1 victory to stay in contention. Navneet Kaur (26’) and Neha (37’) converted penalty corners to give India a solid lead. Although Argentina pulled one back through Gorzelany (52’), India maintained composure to seal the win.

The final match on April 17 was a tightly contested affair, ending 0-0 in regulation time. India’s defense stood firm throughout, keeping a clean sheet. In the shootout, the team held its nerve to win 3-2, leveling the series.

The squad will now return home to continue training, taking valuable lessons from this tour, which provided important exposure against a top-ranked side on their home ground.

Stand-in captain Navneet Kaur praised the team’s effort, saying the comeback after trailing 0-2 reflected the squad’s character and ability to perform under pressure. She added that the back-to-back wins are a sign that the team is progressing in the right direction.
