District electoral officer holds review meeting over poll preparations

Ranchi: The district electoral officer cum Ranchi DC Rai Mahimpet Rey chaired a review meeting to assess the preparations for the Vidhan Sabha polls in which other senior officials of the district administration were present.

In the meeting, the DEO asked all the BDOs and the COs to undertaken vulnerability mapping and also keep an eye on whether flag march was being held in those areas or not.

SSP Anish Gupta who was also part of the meeting said that coming out with just numbers will not serve the purpose and warned that in case of any incident in vulnerable areas action will be taken against the officer concerned.

The SSP also directed to maintain vigil in the LWE areas and asked the officials to prepare a list of anti-social elements or history sheeters who may impact the polls.

To ensure that the model code of conduct is strictly monitored Mr Rey directed the SST/FST posted at the different check posts top undertake videography of the vehicle search and said that in case of any information regarding violation of the model code of conduct than immediately a case should be registered as any sort of negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.

He also asked the officials to make a list of such booths where only 10 percent voting was reported and said that all of them should have entire information related to booth location and instructed them to review epic distribution plan.

Mr Rey said that the BDO and the CO will be jointly responsible for cluster and booth management and asked them to make an assessment of the assured minimum facility, queue management and booth entry.

Mr Rey said that in Ranchi and Tamar assembly areas booth app will be used for which a booth app cell will be formed and also asked the officials to make compartments for webcasting facility.

The DC instructed the officials to make sure that without prior permission they do not leave the headquarters or else action will be taken against them and said that those who have not reported on EVM warehouse duty action will be taken against them.
