Chief Secretary directs to do green hazing in Dhanbad and Ranchi

Ranchi: Chief Secretary DK Tiwari has directed the Urban Development Department to undertake green hazing of Ranchi Smart City and on the other hand he has also directed the forest department to undertake as an experiment green hazing along the roadside anywhere between the roads leading to the airport from the project building.

Addressing the meeting of the national clean air programme execution committee at the project building here he said that the technique is an effective one to prevent the spread of dust particle and also reduce the effect of pollution on the people.

He said that similar green walls should be constructed in Dhanbad and other cities. Mr Tiwari said in different residential colonies, pollution hit areas, pollution areas and in big roads movement area in the middle green wall should be constructed to control the air pollution.

He said that as per the demand of the time the forest department needed to further make its nursery more developed and said plants of 10 feet high should be developed in the nursery so that they can be planted any where as they will also away from the reach of animals and will also require less care moreover it will be also commercially beneficial.

The Union Environment and Forest Department has declared Dhanbad as the most polluted city of Jharkhand and therefore the central government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 10 crore to improve the environment in Dhanbad.

The Chief Secretary has directed to use the funds to undertake green hazing in mining and populated areas and has also directed to put up paver blocks on vacant area and undertake plantation drive. He has also directed to provide facilities of mechanical sweeper in the city and has asked to put up indicator machines in the city to keep an eye on the pollution levels.

Those present in the meeting included Secretary Urban Development Ajay Kumar Singh, Transport Secretary Praveen Toppo, Chairman of Pollution Control Board AK Rastogi and member Secretary Rajiv Lochan Bakshi.
