
Ranchi: Rajya Sabha MP cum state BJP vice president Sameer Oraon said tribals reside in the heart of Raghubar Das government of the state.
Addressing a press conference here he said that it was for the first time that honorary sum was announced for the traditional tribal heads including Munda and Gram Pradhans etc.
He said that in the tribal-dominated villages the Adivasi Gram Vikas Samiti has been formed and in non-tribal villages the gram Vikas samiti is undertaking development works worth Rs 5 lakh. He said that the government has also constituted two special Pahadia battalions while a sum of Rs 527 crore has been distributed as a scholarship among 30 lakh students.
He said that among others it was Raghubar government which formed the ST commission and under Shaheed Gram Yojana 1125 villages are being constructed in 20 villages of seven districts. He said that the government was also developing Birsa Munda jail as a museum while under Dakiya Yojana 35 kilograms of foodgrains are being provided to them.
Mr Oraon also highlighted the other initiatives of the state government including giving the status of state festival and the old age and widow pension was increased from Rs 600 to Rs 1000.
He said that the budgetary allocation for the tribals which was 11,997 in 2014 has been increased to 20,674 while the construction of boundary walls at Sarna-Masna spots has been increased to 1150 and the number of the forest right pattas distributed in the last five years was to 61,970 people.
