Jharkhand govt opens Suvidha Kendra to sell onions at Rs 43 per kg

Ranchi: To give reprieve to the people from every day rising cost of the onion the state government has taken a step to provide onion at the cheaper rate to the people as part of which a Suvidha Kendra has been opened in Pandra Krishi Bazar Samiti where onions are being sold at Rs 43 per kilogram.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sary Rai inaugurated the center after which a great rush of people was seen at the shop to but the onions. The minister said that to provide onion at cheap rates in all the district similar types of centers are being opened and the government was also contemplating all moves to control the prices.

The minister said that a letter has been also written to all the DCs to open Suvidha Kendras to sell onion. He said that after meeting with the chamber of commerce and wholesale onion traders it will also consider providing subsidy on the sell of onion. Mr Rai said that in 28 markets of the state stock of 5322 quintals of onion was present while the cost in the wholesale market was Rs 43 in the retail markets it was being sold at Rs 60 per kilograms.
