Tata Motors rolls out 10 lakh vehicles from Lucknow plant

Jamshedpur : In a landmark achievement for India’s commercial vehicle sector, Tata Motors has rolled out its 10 lakhth commercial vehicle from its manufacturing facility in Lucknow, underscoring over three decades of industrial excellence and partnership with the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The milestone, announced on April 15, is particularly significant as the 10 lakhth vehicle is a zero-emission electric bus—symbolising the company’s firm commitment to sustainable and future-ready mobility solutions.

The rollout also commemorates 35 years of the plant’s operations, which began in 1992 and have since evolved into a cornerstone of the region’s industrial ecosystem.

Reacting to the achievement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the occasion as a moment of pride for the state.

He highlighted that the milestone reflects not only the state’s industrial capabilities but also the strength of its skilled workforce and supportive business environment.

He reiterated the government’s vision of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a one-trillion-dollar economy, driven by robust industrial growth, entrepreneurship, and seamless infrastructure.

Echoing this sentiment, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, said the achievement demonstrates the power of collaboration between industry, government, and communities. He noted that such partnerships are crucial in driving innovation, generating employment, and building capabilities at scale.

Spread across 600 acres, the Lucknow facility has an annual production capacity exceeding one lakh vehicles and supports over 8,000 livelihoods.

The plant has also distinguished itself through sustainability initiatives, operating as a water-positive unit powered entirely by renewable energy.

In addition, it plays a vital role in skill development through specialised training programmes.

Manufacturing a wide range of cargo and passenger vehicles, including electric and fuel cell-powered models, the facility stands at the forefront of India’s transition towards cleaner, smarter mobility.

This milestone reinforces Tata Motors’ leadership in shaping the future of transportation while aligning with broader net-zero goals for both the company and the nation.
