
Bokaro: A local court in this district has awarded death punishment to three convicts who were held guilty of kidnapping and later murdering a minor.
The court of Additional District and session judge Janardhan Singh awarded the capital punishment to Vivek Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar Razak and has also imposed a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh on each of them. The court has directed that the fine is to be paid to the father of the deceased.
The trio had kidnapped 11 year old Ankit alias Sudhanshu Kumar on November 26, 2013 from Sector 4D under Sector four police station area of this district and on November 28 demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh from the father of the boy Amlesh Singh. However, the money was renegotiated and was fixed at Rs 5 lakh which the kidnappers asked to hand over in a temple located near Tarenga railway station of Patna district.
After the money was given on November 30 the criminals promised that the child will reach safely to Bokaro but after he failed to turn up police swung into action and first arrested Vivek along with Rs 1.50 lakh in cash which was given as ransom who later led to arrest of his other two associates and on December 7 the skeletal remains of Ankit was recovered from forest area of Gorhar Police Station area of Hazaribagh districtt.
