Entire year Poshan Mahotsav to be celebrated in state: CM

Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that women of the state have had an important role to play in the development of the state.

Addressing the people after the launch of Poshan Mahotsav in Birsanagar he said that for the prosperity of the state it is important to have healthy mother and child and the government was working to bring down the maternal and infant mortality rates. He said that malnutrition was taking place in the state due to lack of knowledge.

Mr Das said that the purpose of the Poshan Mahotsav is to create awareness among the pregnant women so that they can get nutritious food and also provide the same to the children. He said that it was the responsibility for all to create awareness regarding malnutrition.

Mr Das said that during pregnancy the women are provided Rs 6000 per month so that they can take nutritious food at that time. He said that in Jharkhand one lakh women have to be registered and asked the officials to undertake the registration of the women as soon as possible so that they can get the women.

He said that the drive against malnutrition needed to be made a peoples movement and asked the Jal Sahiyas to play an active role in this regard. On the occasion, the Chief Minister distributed a basket of notorious food among pregnant women and also gave nutritious food to the children.
