Second Somvari: About 3 lakh kanwariyas offer Jala abhishek at Baidynath Dham, More than 1.50 lakh at Basukinath

Deoghar/Dumka: The second Somvari of the auspicious month of Shravan broke made a record of sorts as far as number of kanwariyas descending upon the temple town of Deoghar is concerned as nearly three lakh men and women offered Jala-Abhishek at Baba Baidynath Dham.

The huge rush was also attributed not only to Somvari or Monday which is considered the day for Lord Shiva but also due to the ‘pradosh’ coinciding with the day. Till 7pm in Deoghar 2,49,957 kanwariyas had offered Jala-abhishek and going by the people who are still standing in the queue it is expected that the numbers may go beyond three lakh mark.

The doors of the temple were opened for Jalaabhishek for the devotees at 3.46 am and since than nonstop follow of kanwariyas has been witnessed in the temple. The line of the devotees had crossed Kumetha but by the afternoon it came down to Nandan Pahar. DC Deoghar Rahul Kumar Sinha and SP Narendra Kumar Singh themselves are looking into every single issue.

On the other hand, a report from Dumka said that so far 1,52,785 kanwariyas have offered their obeisance at Basukinath Dham. Out of these 1424 devotees opted for Shigra Darshanam. Dumka DC Rajeshwari B and SP Y S
