Ranchi: The Jharkhand Assembly during the ongoing Monsoon Session witnessed the slogan shootings of Jai Shri Ram and Bharat Mata Ki Jai. It was BJP’s Bokaro MLA Viranchi Narayan who raised the slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai which soon gave its way to the chants of Jai Shri Ram as cabinet ministers CP Singh and Raj Paliwar started raising the slogans of Jai Shri Ram. As house failed to restore in order the speaker was forced to adjourn the house at 1142hrs to 1230hrs. Earlier the JMM MLAs did not allow the question hour to function demanding the government to clarify its stand on the amendments proposed in the Indian Forest Act 1927.
Speaking over the issue of slogan-shouting Tourism Minister Amar Bauri said it was JMM MLA Poulus Surin who said that ‘Ram Nahi Chalega’ (Ram is not allowed) following which in reaction the MLAs indulged in shouting the chants of Jai Shri Ram. Congress MLA from Lohardaga Sukhdeo Bhagat said that when one takes the name of Lord Ram it shows their respect not only towards the God but also towards the house however it appears that BJP and its MLAs have made the name of Lord a laughing stock.
Chief whip of the BJP Radha Krishna Kishore that both the sides had indulged in slogan shouting and since the speaker has not commented over the issue he would not like to speak over the issue. JMM’s Behragora MLA Kunal Sadangi said that it was for the speaker to decide whether slogan shouting is allowed in the house or not and did not comment further on the issue. Congress MLA from Jamtara Irfan Ansari known for his controversial comments said that Lord Ram does not belong to the BJP and alleged that whenever the polls come near the BJP goes towards Lord Ram. He said that BJP had deliberately damaged the environment on these lines in West Bengal and it was trying to repeat the same in Jharkhand.
Mr Ansari said there was no greater Ram Bhakt than him. Urban Development Minister CP Singh said that one takes the name of Lord Ram right from the time of birth to death and without him, no work can be done. He said that there was no wrong in taking the name of Lord Ram. On the other hand, JMM MLA Poulus Surin said that assembly is the place to raise issues of development and not slogans. He admitted that when the MLAs of the ruling party raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram he too had raised the slogan of Jai Sarna.
