Sarala Birla Public School Celebrates Diwali with Cultural Activities, Creativity and Community Service

Ranchi: Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi, celebrated the festival of Diwali with great enthusiasm, bringing together Indian traditions, artistic creativity and social responsibility. The school organised a week-long series of educational, cultural and recreational activities to familiarise students with India's rich cultural heritage while encouraging creativity, teamwork, compassion and community participation.

The celebrations featured a wide range of art and craft activities, allowing students to explore traditional Indian art forms and express their imagination. Students enthusiastically participated in floor rangoli making and Tech Rangoli, showcasing how modern technology can complement traditional artistic practices.

Several other creative activities, including terracotta painting, pot painting, lantern making, Lippan art and diya decoration, were also organised. Students prepared attractive handmade creations using different colours, patterns and decorative materials. These activities introduced them to traditional handicrafts and encouraged the use of eco-friendly ways of celebrating festivals.

Students Showcase Creativity Through Art and Cultural Activities

Flower arrangement was another highlight of the celebrations. Students combined different flowers, colours and textures to create beautiful decorative displays, reflecting their artistic abilities and appreciation of nature.

The school also conducted a fireless cooking activity in which students prepared different dishes without using fire. The exercise encouraged teamwork, cleanliness, creativity and awareness of healthy eating habits. It also helped students understand the importance of sharing and working together.

The pre-primary students added a special attraction to the celebrations through a coordinated human formation. With great enthusiasm and teamwork, the young children arranged themselves in the shape of a beautifully lit diya, symbolising hope, prosperity and new beginnings.

Students Learn About the Significance of Diwali and Chhath

To familiarise students with the cultural and spiritual importance of Diwali and Chhath, the school screened special informative videos. These presentations highlighted the traditions, rituals, mythological stories and values associated with both festivals.

A special Diwali programme was also organised on the school premises. Students presented colourful dance performances, songs and short plays based on the festival. Through these performances, they highlighted the traditional stories and values associated with Diwali, conveying the message of light overcoming darkness, good triumphing over evil and knowledge defeating ignorance.

School Students Spread Festive Happiness Through Social Service

Extending the spirit of Diwali beyond the school campus, students of Sarala Birla Public School took part in a community outreach initiative. They shared festive happiness with students of Rajkiyakrit Upgraded Middle Schools at Ara and Mahilong in Ranchi.

As part of the initiative, books, notebooks, pencil boxes and other essential stationery items were distributed among the children. The activity aimed to promote kindness, empathy, generosity and a sense of social responsibility among students.

The initiative highlighted the importance of celebrating festivals by sharing happiness and supporting those who need assistance.

Creative Decorations Add to the Festive Atmosphere

Students also decorated the school's display boards around the Diwali theme. The boards featured colourful artwork, traditional symbols, informative messages and creative presentations reflecting India's cultural heritage and the spiritual significance of the festival.

These displays further enhanced the festive atmosphere across the school campus while providing students with an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents.
