A cyber awareness campaign was organised at Geeta Devi DAV Public School in Bhandarkola, Deoghar, to educate students about online safety, cybercrime and child protection laws.

A team from the Cyber Crime Department, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kailash Prasad Mahto, interacted with students and explained the risks associated with social media misuse, online fraud and violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Mahto warned students against creating or circulating fake photographs and videos, manipulating images and misusing personal information. He said such activities could attract strict legal action. He also advised students to avoid suspicious links and never share one-time passwords (OTPs), passwords or sensitive personal details online.

The team also addressed child protection, personal boundaries and ways to recognise safe and unsafe behaviour. Students were encouraged to report inappropriate incidents without fear and seek help from their parents, teachers or the appropriate authorities.

An interactive session gave students an opportunity to ask questions about cybercrime, digital fraud and the misuse of social media. Police personnel responded with practical examples to help them understand potential online threats and the precautions needed to stay safe.

School principal Mohammad Mustafa Majeed thanked the Cyber Crime Department team for conducting the programme and emphasised that digital safety and legal awareness are essential alongside academic education.

The programme was attended by Cyber Police Station officer-in-charge Devesh Bhagat and other police personnel. School media in-charge Abhishek Surya shared details of the event.
