The Congress has begun preparations for the upcoming panchayat elections in Jharkhand, with plans to organise ‘Sarvodaya Sankalp’ camps in all districts to strengthen its grassroots organisation and expand public outreach.

The strategy was discussed at a meeting of the state executive committee of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan at Congress Bhawan in Ranchi on Wednesday. The meeting also reviewed plans for the organisation’s participation in the proposed ‘Vote Bachao’ campaign and rally in Delhi on November 1.

Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Keshav Mahto Kamlesh, state co-in-charge Bhupendra Maravi and Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan’s Jharkhand in-charge Ashika Kujur attended the meeting. They called on office-bearers and party workers to step up activities at the district, block and panchayat levels and work more closely with local communities to address public concerns.

Keshav Mahto Kamlesh stressed that a strong grassroots organisation was essential for strengthening democracy. With panchayat elections approaching, he urged party workers to begin preparations early, improve coordination and maintain regular contact with residents.

He said the proposed Sarvodaya Sankalp camps would help organise and train workers while providing a platform to communicate the Congress’s ideas and programmes to people at the local level.

Bhupendra Maravi said the organisation’s strength depended on its grassroots workers and their continued engagement with the public. He urged district coordinators and office-bearers to organise regular activities in their respective areas and make the party’s presence more effective at the panchayat level.

Sarvodaya Sankalp camps planned in every district

The meeting decided to organise Sarvodaya Sankalp camps across all districts of Jharkhand. District coordinators will be assigned responsibilities to facilitate the events, with an emphasis on training workers, strengthening organisational activities and identifying local issues that require attention.

State coordinator Shantanu Mishra described the camps as an important initiative for expanding the organisation and mobilising workers. He said the programmes would help party representatives engage more closely with local communities and prepare for the upcoming panchayat elections.

The meeting also stressed the need to assign clear responsibilities to office-bearers to ensure coordinated preparations at the district, block and panchayat levels.

Participation in Delhi rally discussed

Participants also discussed ensuring the involvement of Jharkhand's office-bearers and workers in the ‘Vote Bachao’ campaign and rally scheduled to take place in Delhi on November 1. The organisation emphasised active participation in the programme.

Other attendees included state convenor Subhash Nag; district coordinators Ritesh Tamsoya, Faneshwar Nath Nilesh and Vinay Kumar; Ranchi metropolitan district coordinator Anjani Ranjan; Chatra district coordinator Yogendra Yadav; East Singhbhum district coordinator Pawan Kumar Bablu; and Kanhaiya Pathak, Vivek Vishal and other office-bearers and party workers.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen the organisation across Jharkhand, prepare a coordinated strategy for the upcoming panchayat elections and ensure the successful implementation of the proposed Sarvodaya Sankalp camps.
