Gumla Sadar Hospital Gets Specialist Neurosurgery Services Twice a Month

Patients with brain and spine-related conditions are receiving specialist consultations and medical guidance at Gumla Sadar Hospital, where senior neurosurgeon Dr Vivek Raj provides services two days every month.

The initiative aims to improve access to specialist medical advice in a district where the availability of doctors specialising in complex brain and spine disorders has been a concern. Dr Raj examines patients, assesses their conditions and advises them on treatment options and further medical procedures.

He also counsels patients and their families about the nature of their illnesses and the available treatment pathways. On Saturday, he visited the hospital and provided consultations to patients requiring specialised care.

Dr Vivek Raj is a senior consultant neurosurgeon specialising in brain and spine surgery. He has previously worked as a consultant at Sathya Sai Hospital in Bengaluru and in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.

He is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) in the United States and has also completed a fellowship in endoscopic neurosurgery.

His regular visits to Gumla Sadar Hospital provide local patients with access to specialist consultations for complex neurological and spinal conditions.
