The Deoghar Municipal Corporation has stepped up sanitation measures across the city ahead of the upcoming festive season, with Mayor Ravi Kumar Raut inspecting key roads, junctions and other high-footfall areas on Saturday.
During the inspection, Raut reviewed sanitation arrangements along the B.Ed. College–Maharaj Bijli Pasi Chowk stretch, Darshaniya More, Shivram Jha Chowk, Sita Hotel, Vilasi, Upper Vilasi in Ward 24, the Kunda-Satsang route, Rohini and Barmasia Main Road.
The Mayor directed municipal officials and sanitation supervisors to ensure that garbage does not accumulate on major roads, near places of worship or at other sensitive locations during the festive period. He also instructed teams to regularly sprinkle bleaching powder and lime in areas requiring additional sanitation and disinfection.
To maintain cleanliness during the evening and night, the civic body will introduce a special second-shift cleaning drive. Raut warned that negligence or lapses in sanitation duties would lead to action against the officials, sanitation personnel and supervisors responsible.
The intensified campaign comes as Deoghar prepares for increased movement of residents and visitors during the festive season. Maintaining clean roads, public spaces and areas around religious sites is expected to remain a key priority for the municipal administration.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Rajnish Kumar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, councillor Shailja Devi, councillor representative Prakash Mahta, Dinesh Yadav, Municipal Manager Satish Das, along with sanitation and ward supervisors, accompanied the Mayor during the inspection.
Raut also appealed to residents to use designated garbage bins and cooperate with municipal sanitation teams. He urged citizens to avoid littering and contribute to keeping public spaces clean as the city enters the busy festive period.
