Gumla Celebrates World Tourism Day with Cleanliness Drives at Key Tourist Sites

Major tourist and religious destinations across Gumla district witnessed special cleanliness drives on World Tourism Day under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, with a separate tree plantation programme organised at the Biodiversity Park.

The initiative aimed to keep the district’s tourist attractions clean and appealing while encouraging people to adopt responsible tourism practices and become more conscious of cleanliness and environmental conservation.

With active participation from local residents, cleanliness activities were carried out at several prominent locations across different blocks. These included Anjam Dham in Gumla, Marda Temple in Raidih, Baghmunda Waterfall in Basia, Tanginath Dham in Dumri, Gobarsili in Palkot, Marsa Dam in Bharno, Balaghat in Kamdara and Navratangarh Fort in Sisai, besides other tourist and religious sites.

The Gumla Tourism Department also organised a special cleanliness and tree plantation drive at the Biodiversity Park. Saplings were planted within the park premises and cleanliness activities were undertaken as part of efforts to promote the concept of clean and green tourism.

During the campaign, participants and local residents appealed to visitors to keep tourist destinations litter-free, dispose of waste at designated places and contribute to the protection of natural resources. The activities also highlighted the role of community participation in preserving Gumla’s natural and cultural heritage.

The district administration urged residents and tourists to take responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness and natural beauty of the district’s tourist and religious destinations. Officials noted that clean and well-maintained tourist sites can improve the visitor experience while also supporting environmental conservation and the growth of local tourism.
