All Jharkhand Drivers Trade Union Opens New Office in Gumla’s Islampur

The All Jharkhand Drivers Trade Union has opened a new office in Islampur, Gumla, with Anjuman Islamia president Mushahid Azmi and secretary Maqsood Alam inaugurating the facility by cutting the ribbon.

The inauguration was attended by a large number of drivers, social workers and representatives of various organisations. Union president Mohammad Akhtar Khan said the organisation was formed to protect the interests of drivers and their families and to help them access government welfare schemes and other facilities available to them.

Khan said having an office in the middle of the city would make it easier for drivers to approach the union and seek assistance in dealing with problems they may face in their professional and personal lives.

He also highlighted the nature of the driving profession, saying drivers often have to travel to unfamiliar places at any time of the day or night and may have to drive alone on highways and other roads. According to him, a dedicated organisation would provide drivers with greater support and a sense of security, particularly when they face difficulties while travelling or working away from home.

Thanking the Anjuman Islamia representatives for attending the inauguration, Khan said their presence had encouraged the members of the drivers’ community. Mushahid Azmi described the formation of the organisation and the opening of the office as a positive initiative for drivers and their families.

During the programme, identity cards were also distributed among union members from different parts of the district.

Those present included district vice-president Jitendra Kumar Singh, secretary Mantu Tirkey, joint secretary Dinesh Chik Badaik, treasurer Mangal Tirkey, district organisation minister Jagarnath Gosai, advisory minister Baban Kumar Singh and media in-charge Ajay Singh.

Afser Alam, Mohammad Kauser, Mohammad Imtiyaz, Firoz Alam, Mahmood Alam, Bablu Khan, Mohammad Meraj, Mohammad Shamim, Naseem Khan, Raju Khan, Sajid, Ghayas Ali, Shahzad Anwar, Naseem Khalifa, Shahid Khan and several others were also present at the event.
