President Murmu, Governor Gangwar greet people on Karam, highlight nature and tribal heritage

President Droupadi Murmu and Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday extended greetings to people on the occasion of Karam festival, highlighting its deep connection with nature, tribal traditions and community harmony.

In a message posted on social media platform X, President Murmu described Karam as a festival associated with gratitude towards nature, dedication to one’s duties and the spirit of brotherhood.

She said the festival represents the rich tribal culture and traditional values of India and carries a message of living in harmony with nature and society.

Murmu also said that Karam inspires people to work towards protecting nature while strengthening mutual harmony. She wished that the festival would bring happiness and prosperity to people across the country.

Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar also greeted the people of the state on the occasion. In his message on X, he described Karam as a festival closely associated with nature, culture and community unity.

Gangwar extended his wishes for peace, happiness, prosperity and well-being for the people of Jharkhand and prayed that the festival would bring joy to families across the state.

Karam is widely observed across Jharkhand and other parts of eastern and central India, with traditional celebrations featuring the Karam branch, folk songs, dances and community gatherings. The festival is closely associated with nature and agricultural life, while its rituals and customs vary among different communities.
