JSSC-CGL Case: High Court Rejects Abhay Tiwari’s Bail Plea

Abhay Tiwari, an accused in the JSSC-CGL recruitment case, suffered a setback as the High Court rejected his bail plea and ordered that he remain in judicial custody.

The court passed the order after hearing arguments from both sides. The matter had been heard on Tuesday, following which the court had reserved its decision.

The CID strongly opposed Tiwari’s bail application, describing him as an alleged key conspirator and mastermind behind the recruitment scam. The agency argued that he was part of an influential network and that his release could potentially affect the investigation and create a risk of tampering with evidence.

Tiwari is currently lodged in jail in connection with CID Case No. 16/2026. The bail plea was rejected by the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner Yogesh Kumar.

According to the CID, Tiwari allegedly collected large sums of money from several candidates while working as a marketing manager at TDPL. The agency alleged that he collected money from candidates, including some of his relatives, and facilitated arrangements to secure jobs through illegal means.

During the hearing, the investigation agency told the court that the allegations were serious in nature and that releasing the accused at this stage could adversely affect the ongoing investigation.

After considering the arguments and material presented by the CID, the court declined to grant Tiwari any relief and directed that his judicial custody continue.

The JSSC-CGL case relates to alleged irregularities in the recruitment process, with the investigation focusing on suspected manipulation and illegal arrangements that allegedly affected candidates seeking government jobs.

Earlier, the CID court had also rejected the bail plea of former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Chairman L. Khiangte in connection with the case.

The latest order means that Tiwari will remain in custody as the investigation into the alleged recruitment irregularities continues.
