Jharkhand Mines and Geology Department Secretary Arwa Rajkamal met Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the Jharkhand Secretariat on Thursday and invited him to attend a national seminar on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in geology and mining.

The one-day national seminar, titled “Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Geology and Mining”, is scheduled to be held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Ranchi on September 8, 2026.

During the meeting, Rajkamal briefed the Chief Minister about the upcoming event and formally invited him to participate in the seminar. The programme is expected to bring together experts and stakeholders from the fields of geology, mining and technology to discuss how emerging technologies can improve exploration, mining operations and geological assessment.

The use of AI and machine learning is increasingly being explored in the mining sector for applications such as geological data analysis, mineral exploration, resource assessment, operational monitoring and improving safety. For a mineral-rich state like Jharkhand, technology-driven approaches could potentially support more efficient and scientific management of its mineral resources.

Director of Mines Rahul Kumar Sinha, JEMCL Managing Director Varun Ranjan and Director of Geology Kumar Amitabh were also present during the meeting.
