Ranchi: The BJP staged a protest march in Ranchi on Monday under its ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign, opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleging that the country was facing a state of anarchy.

The march began at Bapu Vatika in Morabadi, passed through Kachahari and concluded at the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Museum near Jail More. Several senior BJP leaders and a large number of party workers took part in the demonstration.

Participants carried placards bearing slogans targeting the Congress and opposition parties. The messages included, ‘SIR is just an excuse to protect infiltrators’, ‘We want development, not protests’ and ‘The people's mandate must not be undermined’.

Before the march, BJP leaders addressed a gathering and criticised the Congress, Rahul Gandhi and the Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand.

**Opposition running a mock Parliament on the streets: Jual Oram**

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress. He said the Congress leader should remember the Emergency imposed in 1975. Instead of taking their arguments to Parliament after winning elections, the opposition was allegedly conducting a ‘mock Parliament’ on the streets, he said.

Oram accused the Congress of questioning electronic voting machines (EVMs), the Supreme Court and the Election Commission to deflect attention from its electoral defeats. He also claimed that the party had lost elections to Legislative Council seats conducted through ballot papers.

The Union minister further accused the opposition of aspiring to create instability in India similar to situations witnessed in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. He asserted that India's democratic institutions and voters were strong enough to resist attempts to weaken the democratic system.

**BJP targets state government over Maiya Samman Yojana**

Oram also criticised the Hemant Soren government over the Maiya Samman Yojana, describing it as a failure. He alleged that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the Congress were engaged in a continuing tussle over the funds allocated to the scheme.

BJP leaders said the state government should focus on development and addressing public grievances rather than engaging in political blame games.
