Dr Bharti Kashyap Elected Honorary Joint Secretary of IMA National Headquarters for 2026–28

Ranchi: Senior physician and noted women’s health advocate Dr Bharti Kashyap has been elected as Honorary Joint Secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) National Headquarters for the 2026–2028 term.
Dr Kashyap expressed her gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility, describing it as both an honour and a commitment to serve the medical fraternity and society. The IMA is one of the world’s largest representative organisations of medical professionals, with more than four lakh members.

She has been actively associated with the IMA and has held important organisational responsibilities. She previously served as National Co-Chairperson of the Women Doctors Wing at IMA Headquarters from 2022 to 2024 and is currently Chairperson of the Women Doctors Wing, IMA Jharkhand.

A key area of Dr Kashyap’s work has been women’s health, particularly cervical cancer prevention and elimination in Jharkhand. Through the Jharkhand Model, launched in 2021, she has focused on taking awareness, prevention and screening services to women at the grassroots level.

Under the initiative, more than five lakh women of reproductive age, including those suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and those belonging to high-risk categories, have reportedly been screened.
Dr Kashyap said her new responsibility would be an opportunity to strengthen the voice of the medical fraternity, promote meaningful collaborations, empower women doctors and contribute to improving public health.
She said she would undertake the responsibility with humility, clarity of vision and a strong commitment to collective action and meaningful change for the medical profession and society.
