Raghubar Das Targets Hemant Soren Government Over Student Issues, Demands Withdrawal of Cases and CBI Probe

Amid the ongoing controversy over recruitment examinations in Jharkhand, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das has stepped up his attack on the Hemant Soren-led government, raising concerns over the action taken against protesting students and alleged irregularities in recruitment exams.

In a post on X, Das demanded that cases registered against students participating in the protests be withdrawn. He said students have the right to raise their concerns and seek answers from the government, and that legal action against them should be reconsidered.

The former chief minister also questioned the handling of examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), including the CGL examination. He argued that if complaints and concerns about possible irregularities were raised in advance but timely action was not taken, accountability should be fixed.

According to Das, cancelling an examination cannot by itself be considered a complete solution. Such decisions can also affect candidates who have spent years preparing for competitive exams without being responsible for any alleged irregularities.

He said government jobs remain a major source of hope for lakhs of young people in Jharkhand. Many candidates, particularly those from rural areas, spend years preparing in coaching centres and libraries while dealing with financial and family pressures. Repeated delays or cancellation of examinations can therefore create additional uncertainty for aspirants, including concerns over age limits and the loss of valuable preparation time.

Das also called for a clearly defined examination calendar for future recruitment drives and demanded that the entire selection process be completed within fixed deadlines. He stressed the need for an impartial investigation, transparent evaluation and stronger safeguards to prevent irregularities in competitive examinations.

The former chief minister further demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the entire matter. He claimed that, apart from the BJP, several social organisations and students have also been seeking a CBI investigation.

Das urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to withdraw the cases registered against protesting students and initiate a CBI inquiry into the recruitment examination controversy. His remarks are likely to add further political pressure on the state government as concerns over recruitment exams continue to remain a major issue among job aspirants in Jharkhand.
