Ranchi’s young cricketer Ishan Om has taken another important step in his career after earning a place in the Indian Under-19 squad for the upcoming series against Australia. The bowling all-rounder has been selected for the two-match multi-day series, which begins on September 18.
A resident of the Ratu Road area of Ranchi, Ishan has steadily made a name for himself through consistent performances and hard work. He is currently training in Tamil Nadu as he prepares for the challenge at the international junior level.
India’s Under-19 team will face Australia in a series comprising three One-Day matches and two multi-day games. The multi-day format is particularly significant for young players as it tests their ability to maintain discipline, concentration and consistency over longer periods.
Ishan’s selection has brought considerable excitement to the Ranchi cricket fraternity. Officials and fellow players associated with the Ranchi District Cricket Association (RDCA) have welcomed the news, describing it as a significant achievement for both the young cricketer and the city’s cricketing community.
RDCA executive secretary Shambhu Sharan Sinha congratulated Ishan on his selection and said his achievement could inspire other young cricketers from Ranchi to pursue the sport with greater determination. He expressed confidence that Ishan would continue to perform well and bring recognition to Ranchi and Jharkhand at higher levels of the game.
The association’s president, secretary, treasurer and other office-bearers and members also extended their best wishes to Ishan for the next stage of his career.
For Ishan, the Australia series represents more than just another opportunity to play at the junior level. It will be a chance to compete against one of the strongest cricketing nations and demonstrate his skills in a demanding multi-day format. Cricket fans in Ranchi will now be keenly following his performances as he takes the field in India colours.
