Gumla Reviews Tourism and Sports Projects, Focus on Better Infrastructure and Timely Completion

A review meeting on ongoing and proposed tourism and sports projects in Gumla district was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dileshwar Mahto. Officials reviewed the progress of various development works and discussed plans to strengthen tourism facilities and sports infrastructure across the district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed tourism-related works at Devki Baba Dham in Ghaghra, Devgaon Shiv Gufa, Palkot and Ambaghagh. He directed the concerned officials to ensure timely progress and focus on the planned and comprehensive development of these tourist destinations.

The meeting also discussed several locations proposed for future tourism development, including Anjan Dham, Tanginath Dham, Dumri, Hiradah in Raidih, Rock Garden Gumla and Katri Dam. Officials were asked to prepare practical action plans for these locations and coordinate with different departments to take the proposed projects forward.

The Deputy Commissioner said Gumla has considerable potential for tourism and stressed the need to provide visitors with better basic amenities, infrastructure and organised facilities. He called for planned development that could not only attract more tourists but also create greater opportunities for local communities and promote the district as a tourism destination.

Sports infrastructure was another major focus of the meeting. Officials presented an update on various schemes being implemented during the current financial year to improve sports facilities and provide better training opportunities for local athletes.

Construction of a new volleyball court at the Indoor Stadium in Basia has been completed, with the project achieving 100 per cent progress. The new facility is expected to provide players in the area with improved space for training and practice.

At Bakhtar Sai Stadium in Patratoli under Raidih block, renovation and development work has reached 90 per cent completion. The remaining work is being expedited for completion at the earliest.

At Ranhe sports ground in Ghaghra block, work related to renovation, increasing the height of the boundary wall and construction of a drainage system is in progress. Once completed, the upgraded facility is expected to provide players with a safer and more suitable environment for sporting activities.

The administration is also moving ahead with plans to construct an international-standard synthetic hockey field equipped with floodlights at the Swami Vivekananda Sports Complex in Gumla. The project is aimed at providing hockey players with modern training and practice facilities and strengthening the district's sporting ecosystem.

Reviewing the sports projects, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to maintain construction quality and ensure that all works are completed within the ????????? timelines. He said development of sports infrastructure should remain a priority so that talented players from the district can access better training facilities and opportunities to compete at higher levels.

The district administration said efforts to develop tourism destinations and strengthen sports infrastructure are being pursued simultaneously. While improved tourist facilities are expected to boost tourism activity, upgraded sports infrastructure could help nurture talent in both rural and urban areas of Gumla.

The meeting was attended by the District Sports Officer, executive and assistant engineers from the concerned departments, and other officials and personnel.
