Jharkhand Police Steps Up Crackdown on Naxalism, Cybercrime and Organised Crime

Ranchi: Jharkhand Police has recorded significant achievements in the fight against Naxalism, cybercrime, organised crime and drug trafficking during 2026, while simultaneously strengthening police modernisation, welfare and public safety measures.
From January to August 15, police arrested 113 Naxalites, including 49 Maoists, 30 PLFI members, 23 TSPC cadres and others. Among those arrested were several senior cadres carrying rewards of up to ?1 crore. During the same period, 50 Naxalites surrendered, with 43 handing over 28 weapons and 4,549 rounds of ammunition. Police also reported the elimination of 22 Maoists in encounters and recovery of 111 weapons, 9,904 rounds of ammunition, explosives and ?6 lakh in levy money.
The cybercrime crackdown has also yielded substantial results. Between January and June, 658 cybercrime cases were registered and 486 accused arrested. Police recovered hundreds of mobile phones and SIM cards besides cash, ATM cards, vehicles and laptops. Under NCRP's Dial-1930 system, 77,503 complaints were received, around ?150 crore was frozen in bank accounts and ?19 crore returned to victims. Eight new cyber police stations have also been created.
Against organised crime, police arrested 193 gang members and seized 63 weapons. In the anti-drug campaign, 710 persons were arrested and narcotics worth an estimated ?41 crore were seized between January and June. Around 4,620 acres of opium cultivation were also destroyed.
Police also rescued more than 140 human-trafficking victims, arrested over 50 traffickers and made 542 arrests in POCSO and rape-related cases.
Modernisation has remained a priority, with 636 four-wheelers and 849 two-wheelers added to the police fleet. Training programmes inside and outside the state have also strengthened professional capabilities.
In the anti-narcotics drive between January and June, police registered 435 cases and arrested 710 accused. The seizures included 3,461 kg of ganja, 151 kg of opium, 3.6 kg of brown sugar and 10,218 kg of doda. The estimated value of the seized narcotics was put at around Rs 41 crore. Police also claimed to have destroyed opium crops spread across 4,620 acres.
Through the CEIR portal, police recovered 4,053 mobile phones between January and July and returned them to their rightful owners. During the same period, 14,083 special reportable cases were registered and 15,286 cases were disposed of. Police also recovered 482 weapons and 8,663 rounds of ammunition.
Jharkhand Police has reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, technology-driven policing and to building a safer, crime- and extremism-free state.
