A rural hockey tournament organised in Sainda village of Sisai block concluded with enthusiasm and a strong display of sporting spirit, bringing together local players, residents and sports enthusiasts.
Jharkhand Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while district Congress president Rajniel Tigga was present as the special guest. Youth Congress president Azad Ansari, Sisai block Congress president Nilesh Oraon, block pramukh Meena Toppo and several other local representatives and dignitaries also attended the event.
The minister was given a traditional welcome by villagers on her arrival. She later interacted with the players and encouraged them for their participation and performance.

Addressing the gathering, Tirkey said sporting events organised in rural areas play an important role in identifying and nurturing young talent. She said games such as hockey can provide players from villages with opportunities to compete at the district, state and national levels and build a wider identity for themselves.
She said sports are not merely a form of recreation but also help young people develop discipline, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills. Regular sporting activities in rural areas can also provide youngsters with a positive avenue to channel their energy and pursue their ambitions.
Rajniel Tigga congratulated all the players who participated in the tournament and stressed the need to continuously encourage young people to take up sports. He said providing talented rural players with proper platforms and opportunities could help them progress to higher levels of competition.
A large number of villagers, sports lovers and local residents attended the closing ceremony. The event generated considerable excitement among both players and spectators, creating a festive atmosphere at the venue.
Professor Budhu Oraon, Babul Ansari, Mukhtar Alam, Kiran Toppo, Bernadit Lakra, Madho Oraon, Jitendra Lohra, Vikas Lohra, Ashish Sahdev, Sunita Oraon, Divya Lakra, Panchu Oraon, Zuber Alam, Lachhu Oraon, Salman Ali, Sachchidanand Oraon and Manzur Alam were among those present.
Events such as rural hockey tournaments provide young players with competitive exposure and a chance to showcase their abilities. Sustaining such initiatives could help strengthen the sporting culture in rural Jharkhand and create a pathway for promising players to reach higher levels of competition.
