Godda Police Seize 1.4 Kg Cannabis, 76 Adhesive Solutions in Drug Crackdown

Godda Police have intensified their campaign against the illegal trade in brown sugar, cannabis and other narcotic substances under a “Zero Tolerance Policy”. Acting on the directions of the Superintendent of Police, a special raid was conducted in Rajabhitha police station area under the leadership of SDPO Akash Bhardwaj.

As part of the operation, police raided the house of Sandeep Mandal, son of the late Duryodhan Mandal, in Rajabhitha village on August 18, 2026. During the search, the police recovered around 1.4 kg of cannabis, 76 pieces of solution/adhesive and a small electronic weighing machine.

Police said the seizure of adhesive solutions is significant as some children and adolescents have increasingly been misusing such products as inhalants to get intoxicated. The recovery of a weighing machine, along with the cannabis, is also being examined as part of the investigation into the suspected illegal drug trade.

An NDPS Act case has been registered at Rajabhitha police station under the relevant provisions. The accused, Sandeep Mandal, has been arrested and is being sent to judicial custody.

Police said the investigation will also focus on identifying other people who may be involved in the supply or distribution network. Authorities have warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals and groups involved in the illegal narcotics trade, particularly those whose activities could put young people at risk.

Godda Police have also appealed to residents to share information about illegal drug-related activities with the nearest police station or directly with the district police. Officials said the identity of anyone providing such information will be kept confidential.
