BJP State Chief Spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that after 24 days of the JPSC aspirants’ agitation, the Chief Minister calling a Cabinet meeting is nothing but an eyewash. The government must stop indulging in the politics of Cabinet meetings and letters and take immediate and decisive action on all the demands of the protesting students. Pratul said it was extremely unfortunate that the students were given a 2 PM appointment and were even made to sit in vehicles, only to be kept waiting for a long time and then asked to get down because the timing of the meeting had supposedly been changed. It appears that the government is deliberately testing the patience of the students.
Pratul said this is a students’ movement, and their voice does not need the endorsement or patronage of any political party. Thousands of young people are on the streets fighting for their future. The government must understand that there is a limit to how long the patience of the youth can be tested.
Pratul added that When students were protesting continuously for days in the rain, humidity and extremely difficult conditions, why did the government not take their suffering seriously? Did the government not hear their voice for 24 days? Did the Chief Minister need a letter, a political leader or political pressure before engaging with the students?”Pratul said that merely calling a Cabinet meeting and passing half-hearted decisions to complete a formal exercise will not be enough. That would amount to yet another betrayal of the students. The government must categorically accept all the legitimate demands of the aspirants and publicly announce a clear timeline for their implementation.
