Kangaroo Mother Care Units Approved for Newborns in Mining Areas

Deoghar: A meeting of the Governing Council of the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya. Dumka MP Nalin Soren, Deoghar MLA Suresh Paswan, representatives of ministers and legislators, and village heads from the concerned panchayats attended the meeting.The meeting reviewed the progress of various schemes being implemented in mining-affected areas. The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated time frame while maintaining quality standards. Detailed information regarding the schemes already selected and their progress was also presented.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all schemes under the DMFT should be selected with complete transparency so that development works address the actual needs of mining-affected areas. He instructed officials to utilise DMFT funds under two categories high priority and other priority sectors.He emphasised giving top priority to drinking water, sanitation, healthcare, education, skill development and women's education. Officials were also directed to ensure the participation of villagers and public representatives in selecting development schemes so that the benefits reach the affected communities directly.During the meeting, several integrated development projects for the blocks of Karoun, Sarath and Palojori were approved. Approval was also granted for setting up Kangaroo Mother Care Units for newborn babies at the Community Health Centres of all three blocks.To equip children from mining-affected areas with modern technological skills, the council approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for training in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.The meeting also decided to conduct a comprehensive survey for preparing a list of mining-affected panchayats and villages.Among those present were Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, DFO Abhishek Bhushan, the District Planning Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Supply Officer, Headquarters DSP, Executive Engineer of the Drinking Water Department, Assistant Public Relations Officer, the DMFT team and officials from various departments.
