Jamshedpur: The manhunt for the prime accused in the sensational Himanshu Singh murder case ended on Wednesday after Bishwanath Mandal alias Bodra surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Jamshedpur, paving the way for the next phase of the investigation. Bodra, who had been absconding since the June 27 murder outside DD Bar & Cafe in Bistupur, allegedly altered his appearance to avoid identification before quietly reaching the court and surrendering.
After the court completed the necessary formalities, he was remanded to judicial custody and lodged in jail.Investigators are now preparing to move the court for his custodial interrogation, which they believe is crucial to unravelling the conspiracy behind the high-profile murder.
Police expect the interrogation to shed light on the planning of the crime, the roles of the co-accused, the source of the weapons used, and the sequence of events leading up to the fatal shooting. The surrender comes after an intensive police crackdown involving multiple raids at suspected hideouts across and outside Jamshedpur.
Despite sustained search operations, Bodra had remained elusive until his appearance before the court. The killing of Himanshu Singh outside the popular Bistupur establishment had triggered widespread public attention and led to a swift investigation. Several accused have already been arrested in connection with the case, while police have indicated that further arrests and disclosures are likely as the probe progresses.
With the prime accused now in custody, investigators expect the case to gather further momentum in the coming days as they seek to establish the complete chain of events and identify the alleged masterminds behind the murder.
