Two Stabbed After Pub Dispute Over Alleged Harassment of Women in Jamshedpur






Jamshedpur: A late-night argument at a pub in Jamshedpur turned violent after two young men were allegedly stabbed for objecting to the harassment of two women, police said on Sunday.

The injured, identified as Himanshu Singh and Pratyush Singh, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Tata Main Hospital (TMH) for treatment.

The violence did not end there. According to officials, members of the rival group later reached the hospital, where another clash broke out outside the emergency ward, causing panic among patients, attendants and hospital staff.

The incident took place on Saturday night at the Double Down Pub & Bar under the Bistupur police station limits.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the pub was packed when an argument erupted over the alleged harassment of two women. The youths accompanying the women confronted the accused, leading to a heated verbal exchange that soon turned into a physical altercation.

As tensions escalated, the pub's bouncers and security personnel intervened and escorted both groups out of the premises.

Police said one of the groups allegedly called in additional people after stepping outside. The confrontation resumed on the road, where Himanshu Singh and Pratyush Singh were allegedly attacked with sharp weapons and stabbed multiple times.

Both victims collapsed on the spot and were rushed to Tata Main Hospital with the help of local residents.

Soon after they were admitted, members of the opposing group allegedly arrived at the hospital, resulting in another scuffle outside the emergency ward and creating chaos on the premises.

Police reached the hospital after receiving information about the incident and brought the situation under control.

Bistupur police have launched an investigation into the case. CCTV footage from the pub and nearby areas is being examined, and further action will be taken after recording the statements of the injured.

Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest all those involved in the attack.
