Special Security and Passenger Facilities Planned at Railway Stations Ahead of Shravani Mela






Administration prepares comprehensive plan for crowd management, additional trains and round-the-clock surveillance

Deoghar: Preparations for the State Shravani Mela 2026 have gathered pace, with the district administration putting in place extensive measures to ensure the safety, convenience and smooth movement of pilgrims. As part of the exercise, a high-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania was held at the Collectorate on Saturday to assess arrangements at major railway stations.
The meeting reviewed security, traffic management, crowd control and passenger amenities at Jasidih Junction, Deoghar Railway Station and Baidyanath Dham Railway Station. The Deputy Commissioner directed officials from the Railways and the district administration to work in close coordination to ensure that no untoward incidents, including overcrowding or stampedes, occur during the month-long pilgrimage.
A special crowd management plan will be implemented at all major railway stations. Additional security personnel will be deployed, while CCTV cameras will be used for round-the-clock surveillance to monitor passenger movement.
To improve passenger convenience, the administration has directed the Railways to increase the number of ticket counters to minimise long queues. In view of the expected surge in pilgrims arriving from across the country, additional special trains will also be operated in coordination with the Railways.The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to ensure adequate waiting sheds, uninterrupted power supply, safe drinking water, clean toilets and other essential amenities at all major railway stations. Round-the-clock medical camps equipped with doctors and life-saving medicines will also be set up at key stations to handle emergencies.
The meeting further decided that information-cum-assistance centres would remain fully operational to provide guidance and support to pilgrims arriving from different states.
Concluding the review, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments and implementing agencies to complete the preparations within the stipulated timeline before the commencement of the fair. He said ensuring a safe, comfortable and hassle-free experience for every pilgrim visiting Deoghar remains the district administration's top priority.
The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police, Deputy Development Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, railway officials from the Asansol Division, the Sub-Divisional Officer, District Transport Officer, station managers of Jasidih Junction, Deoghar and Baidyanath Dham railway stations, officials of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and representatives of the concerned departments.
