Youth Lead Jharkhand’s Fight Against Drugs as State Launches Anti-Addiction Awareness Campaign






Ranchi: The Jharkhand government on Thursday launched a statewide anti-drug awareness campaign under the direction of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, with hundreds of young people participating in a marathon in Ranchi to spread the message against substance abuse.

The marathon was flagged off by Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar from Bapu Vatika at Morabadi Ground. The run concluded at Albert Ekka Chowk, with participants carrying the message of a drug-free and healthier Jharkhand.

Speaking on the occasion, Sudivya Kumar said the enthusiasm shown by the youth reflected their determination to support the Chief Minister's vision of eliminating substance abuse from the state. He said every step taken by the participants represented a pledge to protect society from the growing threat of narcotics and inspire others to lead healthy lives.

The event witnessed participation from students of schools, colleges, universities and coaching institutes, along with athletes, government officials, employees and citizens from Ranchi and several other districts. Participants also took a pledge to stay away from drugs and encourage others to do the same.

The minister said the responsibility of building a stronger and more prosperous Jharkhand rests with its youth, adding that a healthy society is essential for the state's overall progress. He praised the large turnout as a positive sign that young people are ready to contribute towards a safer and addiction-free future.

The winners were felicitated by the minister at Albert Ekka Chowk.

An awareness exhibition set up by the Information and Public Relations Department also drew significant attention, highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of prevention.

The campaign marked the beginning of a broader state initiative aimed at creating awareness, encouraging public participation, and strengthening efforts to make Jharkhand free from drug abuse.
