Jamshedpur: Police have stepped up efforts to crack the jewellery theft case reported at the residence of former Jharkhand minister Dulal Bhuiyan in Sitaramdera, naming a domestic help and his relative in an FIR lodged in connection with the incident.
The complaint identifies Ramu Kumar, who was employed at the former minister’s residence, as the principal accused. Police have also booked Rajni Mallik, a relative of Ramu, who had allegedly facilitated his appointment as a household worker.
Investigators said suspicion intensified after Ramu Kumar reportedly disappeared shortly after the theft of gold ornaments worth several lakhs came to light. His whereabouts remain unknown, prompting police to launch a search operation across multiple locations.
Officials are examining the role of both accused and probing whether others may have been involved. Raids are being conducted at suspected hideouts, while investigators are also tracking their contacts and recent movements.
Police sources said recovering the stolen jewellery and apprehending the accused remain the top priorities.
The probe is progressing on multiple fronts, with investigators expressing confidence of making a breakthrough in the coming days.
