




Ranchi: Ranchi Police have solved a mobile phone snatching case in the Lalpur police station area within hours of the incident, arresting two accused and recovering the stolen mobile phone along with the motorcycle used in the crime.
The incident took place around 2:20 p.m. on June 19, 2026, when a resident of Namkum was returning home from his office in Karamtoli. During the journey, three youths riding a motorcycle allegedly snatched the victim's mobile phone from his shirt pocket and fled the scene.


After the victim raised an alarm and informed the police, a police team launched an immediate chase. Two of the accused were apprehended, while the third managed to escape.

The arrested accused have been identified as Satyam Kumar Mahto (22) and Anil Kumar (21), both residents of Chiraundi Bazar under the Bariatu police station limits.
Police recovered the motorcycle used in the crime (JH01DD-4831) and the stolen mobile phone. During the operation, officers also seized two other mobile phones. The recovered handsets include models from Samsung, Realme, and Vivo.
A case has been registered at Lalpur Police Station as Case No. 129/26 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, both arrested accused have previous criminal records. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the third suspect who remains absconding.
