




Deoghar: Acting on a tip-off about illegal drug trafficking, Deoghar police conducted a raid in the Koriaasa area under Kunda police station limits and arrested three persons allegedly involved in the sale and purchase of narcotic substances. During the operation, police recovered around 1.9 kilograms of ganja along with a motorcycle, cash and mobile phones.
According to police, Superintendent of Police received confidential information on June 16 that some individuals were engaged in illegal ganja trade near Koriaasa. Following the input, a special raiding team was formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Sadar), Deoghar, to verify the information and take necessary action.The team carried out a raid at Koriaasa ground and apprehended three accused identified as Lal Govind Mandal (27), a resident of Dumarkundi under Devipur police station, and Bittu Kumar Mandal (28) and Kunal Mandal (20), both residents of Koriaasa under Kunda police station. Police said all three were allegedly involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances and had earlier been named in similar cases.During the search, police recovered 1,189 grams of ganja from Lal Govind Mandal, 281 grams from Bittu Kumar Mandal and 411 grams from Kunal Mandal. A Honda Shine motorcycle, ?5,150 in cash and two mobile phones were also seized from their possession.A case has been registered at Kunda police station as Case No. 75/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police are interrogating the arrested accused to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify other persons linked to the drug network.The raid was conducted by a team led by SDPO (Sadar) Kuldeep Kumar and included Police Inspector-cum-Town Police Station In-charge Rajeev Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Prashant Kumar, Ajay Soy, Sandeep Krishna, Ghanshyam Ganjhu and Mukesh Tiwari, along with armed personnel and technical branch staff.
Police said the drive against illegal narcotics trafficking in the district will continue with intensified action against those involved in the trade.
