Ranchi: The Jharkhand Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, approved 23 proposals during its meeting on Monday, taking several key decisions related to public welfare, infrastructure development, mining, irrigation, and employee benefits. Among the most significant decisions was the enhancement of compensation for deaths caused by wildlife attacks from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The issue of increasing compensation for victims of elephant and other wildlife attacks had frequently been raised in the state Assembly. With the revised policy, the government aims to provide greater financial support to affected families.

### Rs 10 Lakh Compensation for Wildlife Attack Victims
The Cabinet approved a substantial increase in compensation for people affected by wildlife attacks. Families of individuals killed in attacks by wild animals will now receive Rs 10 lakh, up from the earlier Rs 4 lakh.
The government has also fixed compensation of Rs 2 lakh for serious injuries and Rs 35,000 for minor injuries caused by wildlife attacks. In addition, an immediate relief amount of Rs 1 lakh will be provided in cases of death. The move is expected to benefit residents of rural and forested regions where incidents involving elephants, bears, and other wild animals are common.
### Advance Salary and Credit Facility for Government Employees
In another employee-friendly decision, the Cabinet approved an advance salary and credit facility for government employees. Under the new arrangement, employees will be eligible to receive up to 30 days’ advance salary, which can be repaid in instalments over a period ranging from two months to 60 months.
Financial institutions will be selected to implement the scheme. The government believes the facility will help employees manage unexpected financial requirements and emergencies.
The Cabinet also approved measures to bring uniformity in the pay structure of computer operators and data entry operators working across various departments. Future appointments to these posts will be made under Pay Level-2, ensuring standardized salaries and service conditions.
### Major Push for Road and Irrigation Infrastructure
Several infrastructure projects received approval during the meeting. Administrative sanction of more than Rs 162 crore was granted for road widening and strengthening projects aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activity.
The Cabinet also approved the revised cost of the ambitious Amanat Barrage Irrigation Project in Palamu district, allocating more than Rs 947 crore for its execution. The project is expected to expand irrigation facilities and provide significant benefits to farmers in the region.
According to the government, these initiatives will accelerate development in both rural and urban areas while strengthening the agriculture and transport sectors.

### Mining Projects Get Green Signal
The Cabinet cleared important mining-related proposals as well. Approval was granted to allocate mining leases for the Parbatpur and Sitanala coal blocks in Bokaro district to **JSW Steel**.
Similarly, the Jitpur coal block in Godda district has been allotted to **Carey Mining Private Limited**. The government expects these projects to attract investment, boost industrial activity, create employment opportunities, and contribute to higher state revenues.
### JharNet 2.0, Appointments and Administrative Reforms Approved
The Cabinet also approved several administrative and digital governance initiatives. The tenure of the state's digital connectivity programme, JharNet 2.0, has been extended until the 2026-27 financial year.
Appointments of Motor Vehicle Inspectors through the **Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission** were approved, while services of irregularly appointed employees in the Godda and Bokaro collectorates will be regularised.
The Cabinet also granted post-facto approval to the appointment of **Rohitasya Roy** as the state's Advocate General. Additionally, a hybrid departmental-contractor model was approved for executing various forest department projects.
The state government said these decisions would improve administrative efficiency, enhance transparency, and accelerate the implementation of development programmes across Jharkhand.
