
Deoghar: A high-level review meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania and Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar to assess preparations for the successful organization of the State Shravani Mela and Bhado Mela 2026. The meeting reviewed departmental preparations related to security, smooth jalaarpan (holy water offering), accommodation, sanitation, and other essential facilities for devotees. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner sought detailed updates from various departments regarding the status of tender processes and budget allocations. He directed officials to ensure that all tender procedures are completed transparently and within the stipulated timeframe so that implementation of projects is not delayed.The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the State Shravani Mela is a globally renowned religious event that attracts lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad for darshan and jalaarpan at Baba Baidyanath Dham. Ensuring the convenience and safety of pilgrims, he said, remains the district administration’s highest priority. He instructed departments responsible for electricity, drinking water, healthcare, roads, security, and sanitation to work in close coordination to prevent any disruption during the fair.Reviewing ongoing preparations, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officials and executive engineers to maintain high standards in all construction and service-related works being undertaken for devotees. He warned that no compromise on quality would be tolerated and instructed departments to complete all assigned works well before the deadline.The meeting also included a detailed review of arrangements such as laying fine sand along the Kanwariya path, strengthening power supply, healthcare services, sanitation measures, accommodation facilities, construction of sheds and pandals along route lines, drinking water supply, toilets, bathing facilities, and decorative works. The Deputy Commissioner urged all departments to further improve facilities to ensure that devotees visiting the holy city have a comfortable and memorable experience.
Special Focus on Better Management and Inter-Departmental Coordination
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that arrangements related to security, sanitation, rest areas, drinking water, electricity, toilets, bathing facilities, traffic management, and healthcare services must be made fully robust during the Shravani Mela. He directed all departments to finalize preparations through effective coordination.He also emphasized the need for safe and well-organized electrical infrastructure in and around the Baba Temple complex. Officials were instructed to relocate electricity poles from the Dumma border to the Kanwariya path within the stipulated timeline to ensure safe and smooth movement of pilgrims.
Deoghar Basukinath Four-Lane Road to Be Repaired by July 25
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned department to ensure that the Deoghar–Basukinath four-lane road is fully repaired and made traffic-ready by July 25. He noted that improving road conditions is essential in view of the large influx of devotees expected during the Shravani Mela.Among those present at the meeting were Forest Divisional Officer Abhishek Bhushan, Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner Rohit Sinha, Additional Collector Hira Kumar, Temple In-Charge and Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, the Civil Surgeon, District Transport Officer, District Nazarat Deputy Collector, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, District Sports Officer, executive engineers from various departments, administrative officials, staff members, and representatives of the DMFT team.
