Deoghar: Tension prevailed at the Sarwan Community Health Centre (CHC) after the death of a woman following childbirth triggered allegations of medical negligence. According to officials, a pregnant woman from Uparbahiyari village was admitted to the hospital at around 12 noon on June 3. She delivered a baby at about 1:15 pm, but her condition deteriorated after delivery. She was subsequently referred to Deoghar Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment. However, information received nearly an hour after the referral confirmed her death.
The incident sparked outrage among the victim's family members and local residents, who staged a protest outside the hospital and accused health staff of negligence. Police and administrative officials reached the spot and pacified the protesters, assuring them of a fair investigation into the matter.
Taking the incident seriously, the Medical Officer-in-Charge termed it a case of gross negligence in duty and removed ANMs Rinku Mandal and Rima Vrisi from labour room responsibilities with immediate effect. Rinku Mandal has been directed to report daily at Dubjora Health Sub-Centre, while Rima Vrisi has been assigned to Banwaria until further orders. An inquiry into the incident is underway.
