Preparations Intensified for Shravani Mela 2026, Focus on Devotees’ Safety and Convenience

Deoghar: Preparations for the upcoming State Shravani Mela 2026 have gathered pace with the district administration reviewing arrangements to ensure better facilities and safety for devotees arriving at Baba Baidyanath Dham from across the country and abroad. A high-level review meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya.During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner carried out a detailed department-wise review of the preparations for the annual fair. Discussions were held on work plans, tender processes and the status of fund allocation for various arrangements related to the mela. Officials were directed to complete all preparations within the stipulated time so that devotees do not face any inconvenience during the pilgrimage.
The Deputy Commissioner said that lakhs of devotees visit Deoghar during the Shravani Mela every year and ensuring their safety, comfort and smooth darshan remains the administration’s top priority. He instructed departments concerned to further strengthen arrangements related to fine sand layering on the Kanwariya path, electricity supply, medical facilities, sanitation, accommodation, route-line pandals, drinking water, toilets, bathing facilities and beautification works.
He asked all officials and executive engineers to begin groundwork immediately and ensure there is no shortcoming in mela arrangements. Departments were also directed to complete all necessary correspondence regarding fund allocation at the earliest and work in close coordination to provide a better experience to devotees visiting the temple town.Special emphasis was laid on improving overall crowd management and public facilities in the mela area. The Deputy Commissioner said adequate arrangements must be ensured for security, cleanliness, rest sheds, drinking water, electricity, sanitation, bathing facilities, traffic management and healthcare services. He instructed all departments to finalize preparations well before the commencement of the fair.
The meeting also focused on strengthening electrical safety in and around the Baba Temple premises. Officials were directed to secure and streamline electric wiring in the mela area. Considering the safety of devotees, instructions were issued to shift electric poles falling along the Kanwariya route from the Dumma border within the stipulated time.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed all departments to prepare and submit a detailed action plan for Shravani Mela 2026 to the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He said regular monitoring of all works would be carried out to ensure better facilities and smooth arrangements for devotees. Among those present at the meeting were Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner Rohit Sinha, Additional Collector Heera Kumar, Temple In-charge-cum-Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, the Civil Surgeon, District Transport Officer, Sub-Divisional Police Officer and officials and engineers from various departments.
