Strict Monitoring Ordered in Public Distribution System, Negligence Will Invite Action

Deoghar. A high-level review meeting of the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of DC Shashi Prakash Singh. The meeting was attended by block supply officers, warehouse managers and senior departmental officials from across the district. During the review, the DC issued several important directives to strengthen the public distribution system and ensure timely delivery of food grains to ration card holders.
The DC reviewed the lifting of food grains from main warehouses and examined the entire distribution chain up to doorstep delivery. He directed officials to maintain complete transparency in the system so that food grains reach fair price shops on time and beneficiaries do not face inconvenience. He warned that negligence at any level would not be tolerated. Strict action, including registration of cases, would be taken against transport contractors or dealers found involved in irregularities.Special emphasis was laid on the welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group families. The DC directed officials to identify families that have not lifted ration for a long time and conduct physical verification. If any family has migrated or shifted to another place for employment or other reasons, officials must ensure that they continue receiving ration and other government benefits at their present location without disruption.Expressing concern over the approaching monsoon season, the DC instructed the District Supply Office and State Food Corporation officials to complete repair work of all government and PACS warehouses before the rains begin. He directed that roofs, walls and floors of warehouses be repaired properly to prevent leakage, dampness and waterlogging. The DC warned that if even a small quantity of food grains gets damaged due to negligence during the rainy season, the concerned warehouse manager and officials would be held accountable.
At the end of the meeting, the DC asked all officials to work with sensitivity and responsibility. He said the administration’s top priority is to ensure that welfare schemes reach the last person in society. Licences of dealers found harassing beneficiaries would be cancelled, while negligent officials would face departmental action.
