
Deoghar: Deoghar Police achieved a major success in its ongoing anti-drug campaign by seizing around 20.760 kilograms of ganja during raids conducted in Jasidih and Kunda police station areas. Six accused persons were arrested during the operation. The information was shared by SP Praveen Pushkar during a press conference on Saturday.
According to police, a secret tip-off was received about illegal ganja trading and smuggling activities being carried out near Chatterjee Bagan behind Jasidih Railway Station and in the bushy area near Naiyadih Maidan under Kunda police station limits. Acting on the information, a special raiding team was formed under the leadership of SDPO Sadar Ashok Kumar Singh.
During the raid, police recovered 10 packets of ganja packed in separate bags and wrapped with grey tape and plastic. An additional 172 grams of ganja was also recovered from beneath the seat of a Yamaha FZS motorcycle. Police further seized cash worth Rs 28,500, three mobile phones, a railway entry permit and one motorcycle from the spot.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vikas Kumar Mandal (39) from Lakhisarai, Rajesh Yadav (45) from Jamui, Ramdev Mahta (52) from Rikhia in Deoghar, Dinesh Shah from Jatahi More, Parshuram Mandal from Chitolothiya under Kunda police station area and Yogendra Mandal from Teliyadih under Sarwan police station area.SP Praveen Pushkar said that interrogation of the accused is underway and police are trying to identify other members linked to the narcotics network. He added that the district police will continue its drive against drug trafficking and strict action will be taken against those involved.Police have registered Jasidih Police Station Case No. 172/2026 under various sections of the NDPS Act. During investigation, police also found that two of the accused, Ramdev Mahta and Dinesh Shah, already had criminal records in previous cases.
The raiding team included SDPO Sadar Ashok Kumar Singh, Jasidih Police Station in-charge Deepak Kumar, Amar Kumar, Ramanuj Singh, Sachit Kumar Singh, Sandeep Krishna, Priyaranjan Kumar, Anish Kumar Singh, Ramanuj Mishra and other personnel from Jasidih police station and the technical branch.
