Ranchi Traffic Police Tightens Rules, Launches Crackdown on Violators

Ranchi: In an effort to improve traffic management in the state capital, a key review meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Traffic SP. The meeting was attended by traffic DSPs, traffic station in-charges, and several police officials, where rising congestion and increasing violations of traffic rules were discussed in detail.

During the meeting, officials directed strict enforcement against violations such as the use of black films on vehicles, fancy number plates, modified silencers, pressure horns, rash driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities said offenders would face action under the Motor Vehicles Act.

The traffic police also decided to intensify drives against vehicles carrying passengers beyond permitted capacity and against minors found driving vehicles.

In another important decision, auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw (toto) drivers have been instructed to wear uniforms compulsorily while operating their vehicles.

Officials also raised concerns over vehicles being parked in “left free” lanes, which often leads to traffic congestion at major intersections. Strict action has been ordered against such violations.

All traffic police station in-charges have been directed to ensure special monitoring near schools during opening and closing hours. They have also been asked to remove vehicles unnecessarily parked at busy crossings and junctions.

The Traffic SP instructed all officers to ensure strict implementation of these directives to maintain smooth and hassle-free traffic movement across Ranchi.
